This has been a long awaited, highly raved about launch that had me giddy from the word go. I literally could.not.wait to get my hands on it. The launch was originally set for February the 1st exclusively at Space NK, but for some reason didn’t actually come out until the 2nd. And yes, I was one of those crazy people frantically refreshing the website every 10 seconds to see if it had been released. Much to my delight (and probably everyone around me) I was finally able to get my hands on it and we’ve been getting to know each other for the last two weeks and I’m ready to give you my thoughts.
Let’s get into it shall we?
There are 12 shades in the range from the palest of the pale (I’m in Terre Neuve) to the darkest of skins. I respect, applaud and am forever grateful to brands who cater for a wide range of skintones and don’t have a misconception that everyone is of a similar colour. Bravo Nars!
Let’s talk about coverage. Somehow this formula manages to be effortlessly skinlike yet medium coverage at the same time, which could be built to full if needed. A little definitely goes a long way & it delivers a lot more coverage to my surprise (in a good way!) than I thought it would, with it being called a ‘skin tint‘.
The formula has a soft, cream-like texture to it and upon application (I find a sponge works best) it melts seamlessly into the skin delivering a weightless, skinlike matte finish. Basically, it’s like perfect skin in a tube.
The only thing I could fault with this foundation is that it starts to lose the battle against oiliness towards the 5-6 hour mark (although that’s still impressive compared to other foundations) so a powder here or there wouldn’t go a miss.
Although the packaging is nothing fancy, it’s simple, it’s practical & it works (and you don’t have to worry about pumps or dropping it).
So whether you’re going for the ‘no makeup, makeup‘ look or drinks with the girls – this tube of magic does it all.
Have you tried the New Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint yet? What are your thoughts? Or have I twisted your arm & persuaded you to give it a whirl…?
Ciao for now,
