The April Favourites

It’s official. I’m in complete and utter denial that we’re entering the fifth month of 2016. Although the weather is yet to catch up (I’m currently writing this as hail batters my window), we’re all still desperate for that healthy, spring glow to liven up our sallow skin (no, just me?).

This past month I’ve mainly been opting for a lighter weight foundation in the form of Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation (read my full review here). Although it’s not as full coverage as my Tarte 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Foundation, it still has medium coverage which is great for those who are concious of breakouts but don’t want an inch thick of foundation.

You know that dilemma when you’re running out of something and you’re not sure whether to repurchase or to try something new? Well, that was me at the beginning of this month. My mascara was on it’s very last legs and I eventually decided (there was a lot of umm-ing and arr-ing involved) to take the plunge and pick up the highly hyped about Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara. I’m used to using a plastic mascara wand so it was a surprise to my lashes and I just how much we liked a natural bristle wand. The thing I love most about this mascara is the fact that although it gets the job done, it’s still feels extremely lightweight and I am yet to experience any unwanted clumpiness.

This month has been all about the palettes for me. The thing I look forward to must without a doubt when doing my makeup is eyeshadow and experimenting with different looks and techniques. With having blue eyes, I tend to sway towards the warmer tones on the lids and the ones I’ve had in rotation this month is the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette, the
Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette & my beloved Tartelette in Bloom Palette. I love them all for different reasons, but you’ll just have to wait a little longer for my full blown ramble for an upcoming post (hint).

Recently I purchased a BH Cosmetics eyeshadow brush set from T K Maxx and one in particular I have being using nonstop this past month. The BH Cosmetics 101 has completely captured my heart as you know how much I love a multi-tasking product. Transition, crease, blending – this brush takes it all in it’s stride.

I am very curious as to whether this is a dupe for a more expensive brush from MAC, Zoeva, etc. so please drop me a comment if you know!

As I was clearing out and organising my makeup drawers (anyone else find this extremely therapeutic?) I discovered the NYX Slide on, Glide On Lip liner in Nude Suede Shoes, something I had added onto my order for a FeelUnique order awhile back to get free delivery (c’mon, we’ve all been there). I’ve been trialing it out with Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl and I must say, it’s like a match made in heaven. The lip liner really does ‘glide on’ and applies like an absolute dream – I cannot wait to get my hands on some colours!

The newly launched Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick
in Noisette (read my full review here) impressed me from the get-go and I knew instantly it would be a winner. This formula is a huge breakthrough in the liquid lipstick world. I have never come across a liquid lipstick that is easy to apply and you don’t have to worry about flaking, crumbling or it sucking out every last ounce of moisture so that your lips feels like the Sahara desert. Seriously, if you’re an avid lipstick wearer like me you need this.

Admittedly I’ve neglected my nails a bit this month, but for the last few days of April I’ve been sporting Max Factor’s Glossfinity Nail Polish in Candy Rose. I bought this in Summer last year and thought I would crack it out again as it is such a lovely and unique shade. Paired with the bottle of magic that is Sensationail ‘s Polish to Gel Transformer, you get a gel-like shine and it makes it extra bulletproof.

After my recent gallivant to Edinburgh, I had a few pictures to print and stumbled across LaLaLab. They can print your photos in various formats, including a style to make them look like Polaroids and you know how much I love a good ol’ Polaroid.

If you’re wanting to give them a give go, feel free to use my referral code to get you Β£5.00 off your first order (no minimum spend). The quality of their prints are fantastic and have super speedy delivery.

I am bubbling over with excitement for the release of ‘Me Before You‘ on the 3rd June. It’s been my favourite book for years (if you haven’t read it you’re seriously missing out) and the fact it’s being made into a film has sent my brain into overdrive (watch the trailer here). Imagine Dragons, one of my favourite bands, have just released a song that is on the soundtrack called ‘Not Today‘ and I have had it on repeat ever since. If you listen to anything today, let it be this.

What have you been loving this past month? Any recommendations? Have you tried any of the products I have mentioned?

Ciao for now,

x
